I had always loved dance and took classes in several styles. But, after graduating from college with a BA in Elementary Education, there were only two offerings for exercise at the local YWCA - belly dance class or calisthenics. Well, at least there was "dance" in the title, so I took a class. I was immediately captivated by the music and how connected to the music the dance was. That class opened a door to learning about a culture I knew little about and created a passion for Arabic music and dance that continues to this day.
With this blog, I hope to open a door to appreciation, understanding, and a desire to learn more about the beauty that lies in another people and their culture.
