Enjoy an evening of hospitality, entertainment, and festivity reminiscent of a Middle Eastern woman’s party!  Bring a snack to share, BYOB (water will be provided), a pillow for sitting on the floor. The evening includes a short performance featuring Zulaika and guest artists. You will be treated a lesson on women’s Khaliji dancing (Saudi Arabia & Kuwait) using the beautiful dancing caftan Thobe Nashal (several thobes and hip scarves will be provided to share) and basic Belly Dance moves so you can groove to the latest Arabic beats!

Premier Arabic Music Program

Founded in 1997, the Arabic Music Retreat features instruction in all  facets of Arabic music – including technique, theory, and repertoire.  It is considered the premier Arabic music program in the United States.

Led by internationally renowned musician Simon Shaheen, the Retreat  brings world-class instruction of Arabic music to the campus of Mount  Holyoke College in the town of South Hadley, in western Massachusetts.  The event takes place each summer, when the campus is quiet and in its  full summer glory.

Zulaika is a member of the staff.

Zulaika is a featured instructor. Emerald Sanctuary Belly Dance Retreat is an annual belly dance retreat in the high desert of Central Washington within Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park, usually held the last weekend of August (before Labor Day). Regional and local instructors offer an exciting range of workshops for the beginner to the seasoned dancer. The retreat was founded by Indigo, a well-known Washington State belly dancer.
